Sara E. Stewart, D.O.
Dr. Sara E. Stewart, D.O. is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in comprehensive ophthalmology with subspecialty training in pediatric and adult eye movement disorders. She earned her undergraduate degree from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh and her Doctorate of Osteopathy from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. Soon after, she completed an internship at University Hospitals Richmond Medical Center, a preliminary medicine year at The Ohio State University’s Medical Center in Columbus and an ophthalmology residency at Michigan State University with Beaumont Oakwood Hospital, where she was appointed Chief Resident. Finally, she completed a subspecialty fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology at Akron Children’s Hospital before beginning her professional career as a clinical professor at the University of Pittsburgh Eye and Ear Hospital where she trained students, interns and residents.
Prior to joining the Scott and Christie Eyecare Associates team, Dr. Stewart worked as an ophthalmologist at a multi-location private practice with offices throughout Western Pennsylvania. She has lectured at many national and international ophthalmology conferences and is a certified member of the American Osteopathic Boards of Ophthalmology & Otolaryngology. She is also professionally affiliated with the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Academy of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, and the World Society of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus. In her free time, Dr. Stewart enjoys exercising, traveling, and trying to keep up with her two young sons, Alexander and Andrew, and husband, Ryan.
